Burnley vs Huddersfield

Date: 23/09/17

K.O: 15:00pm

A win for either side tomorrow could see them go into the top four- something which Huddersfield fans especially would not have expected six games into the season.

Both teams come into this game off the back of draws in their last Premier League fixture and defeats in the League Cup.

It is an interesting, hard to predict line-up. Huddersfield were expected by many to head straight back down to the Championship but after two wins and two draws in their opening games it seems they are a much stronger force than anticipated. However, it is still yet to be seen whether this early good form is a flash in the pan or consistency for the season.

Burnley have equally defied expectations. They have already picked up points on the road against Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool after only winning one game away from home for the whole of last season. Their usual fortress of Turf Moor is looking a lot less secure than in previous years with the only points gained there against the rather hapless Crystal Palace.

Huddersfield have a rather worrying injury issue with Nahki Wells, Steve Mounie, Danny Williams, Collin Quaner, Kasey Palmer and Jon Gorenc Stankovic all unavailable. As well as this Laurent Depoitre and Rajiv van La Parra are both doubtful with muscle strains.

Mounie and Depoitre are Huddersfield’s joint top goal scores along with Aaron Mooy so David Wagner will need to find goals in his side from somewhere- he cannot just rely on Mooy to carry the team in regards to attack.

Burnley have no fresh injury concerns as Jon Walters remains sidelined with a knee issue.

Huddersfield will have to work hard to break down Burnley’s defence- it may be that set pieces provide their best opportunities to score, especially with their injury problems.

Huddersfield will be happy with a point on the road but Burnley need to get their home form up and running. If Chris Wood and Sam Vokes put their scoring boots on then this could be a second defeat on the road in a row for Huddersfield.
