90MAAT Premier League Preview: Manchester City v Leicester City.

As the 2016/17 Premier League season draws to a close, both Manchester City and Leicester City unquestionably still have something to prove. Leicester have far from lived up to their “Premier League Champions” title, and despite an incredibly strong start to the season, Champions League football is very much at stake for Guardiola’s side in Saturday’s meeting with Leicester.

The clash at the Etihad will see Man City compete to try and solidify their case for a top four finish, whilst Leicester have a chance to move to eighth in the league standings and continue their winning momentum by moving to three consecutive league victories.

After having lost 4-2 to the Foxes in December, Man City will be looking to put things right against Leicester at home this weekend. Guardiola will be expecting a tough top four finish, and as the last few games approach he will be looking to secure a vital three points at home against Leicester. This is followed by the visit of West Brom to the Etihad in the mid-week fixture, before heading off to a tough away game at Watford.

Leicester however will be looking to salvage any points they can in their next two games as they face two of the Premier Leagues top four. Leicester’s form has been mesmeric following the appointment of Craig Shakespeare, and having put four past Man City earlier in the season Shakespeare’s side are more than capable of unlocking the Man City back line: a Jamie Vardy hat-rick previously proving to be the undoing of Man City’s expensively assembled defensive recruits.

Man City put on a very confident 5-0 display against Crystal Palace in their last match at home and will be looking to back that up against Leicester. The return of Jesus (not Navas) to Man City’s starting XI will be a huge boost for Guardiola, with question marks remaining over the fitness of star striker, Sergio Aguero.

David Silva looked a constant threat upon return, posing many problems for the Palace defence and scoring Man City’s fastest goal of the season. Guardiola’s side haven’t enjoyed too many fast starts this season and will be looking to come out firing at the Etihad.

Kick-off is set for 12:30 pm on Saturday and should be a cracker between the current Champions Leicester and Guardiola’s Man City side who need to solidify their league position to ensure Champions League football in 2017/18.
