West Ham will be brimming with confidence after shutting out London rivals Spurs last week and claiming the 3 points: ending Tottenham’s title challenge and leaving Chelsea on the brink of glory.
Liverpool are now only four points clear of Arsenal in fifth who have a game in hand on Klopp’s team. The pressure is really piling onto this Liverpool team who were held to a goalless draw by Southampton last weekend.
West Ham’s Jose Fonte believes the Hammers are capable of claiming another scalp this weekend in their push for a top 10 finish:
“It’s another big game on Sunday and we want to replicate what we did against Tottenham […] we have found a good system, and we’ve been excellent in the last four games”.
Jose Fonte – May, 2017
Liverpool meanwhile have struggled all season against teams outside the top six and need this win to alleviate growing fears in the Kop that their man Klopp might just blow it. Champions League football is desperately close to returning to Anfield, though Sunday’s clash against West Ham will be a huge decisive game in Liverpool’s UCL pursuits.
There are no new major injury concerns for either side, Joel Matip and Roberto Firmino both did not train on Wednesday but both are expected to play on Sunday.
Kick-off is scheduled for 14:15 this Sunday and is sure to be a tightly fought contest. Keep up to date with detailed match reports and analysis with 90MAAT – your digital Premier League guide.
