Alexis Sanchez: Chilean star considers move away from Old Trafford

Manchester United’s highest earner, Alexis Sanchez, is reportedly considering a move away from Old Trafford having arrived just nine months ago from Arsenal, according to the Daily Mail.

Sanchez, 29, has had an extremely difficult start to life in Manchester, with his last-minute winner against Newcastle United marking his first goal since April.

Reportedly on a wage in excess of £450,000 p/week, naturally expectation was high towards a player who had shone at the Emirates and scored 62 league goals in three and a half seasons. The swap deal involving Henrik Mkhitaryan was seen to be a stunning piece of business for United, offloading a player who was struggling for form and receiving one of the Premier League’s star performers in the process.

The move for Sanchez has had a seemingly polarising effect on his performances; struggling for form and lacking the spark so often associated with the Chilean star from his time in North London.

His drop in form is partly attributed to his split from long-term girlfriend Mayte Rodrigruez, though should Sanchez decide to depart Old Trafford, he is likely to have a long list of suitors interested in acquiring his services, with any top European team willing to take a gamble that this is merely a temporary blip and the form and class Sanchez has previously shown will return.

United head to Chelsea in the 12.30pm kick-off on Saturday, with Mourinho’s side aiming to halt a run of just one win in five games.
