Premier League clubs have been on a colossal spending spree already this Summer as we move into July and officially commence the Premier League transfer window.
Over £250 million has been spent already, as clubs look to improve their squads for the new season to compete both domestically as well as further afield into Europe for teams nearer the top of the table.
Below we profile a full match-day squad of players signed by Premier League clubs in June.
Goalkeeper: Jordan Pickford (Everton, £25 million)
23-year-old Pickford was one of the only highlights in a dreadful 2016/17 for Sunderland as they finished bottom of the premier league, and his performances didn’t go unnoticed.
Everton splashed the cash to recruit the England under 21 international in a £25 million deal, rising to £30 million and will be hoping he will be in the sticks at Goodison Park for many years to come.
Right Back: Pablo Zabaleta (West Ham, Free)
Following his release by Manchester City, veteran right back Zabaleta was snapped up by West Ham on a two-year deal. He officially made the move south on July 1st, but the deal was agreed long before.
The Argentine will provide experience and attacking prowess in the Hammers back line, competing with Sam Byram for a starting spot.
Centre Back: Harry Maguire (Leicester, £17 million)
After a torrid season defending their Premier League title, Leicester have turned to youth to aid their ageing defensive partnership of Wes Morgan and Robert Huth with the signing of 24-year-old Harry Maguire from Hull city.
Maguire impressed as Hull finished 18th last term, earning a five-year deal with the Foxes.
Centre Back: Victor Lindelof (Manchester United, £31 million)
Jose Mourinho turned to 22-year-old Sweden International Victor Lindelof to shore up United’s inconsistent defence. The former Benfica man joins on a four-year deal.
The £31 million fee United coughed up eclipses the £29.1 million they paid for former captain Rio Ferdinand in 2001, meaning Lindelof is the most expensive defender in Manchester United’s long history.
Left Back: Sead Kolasinac (Arsenal, Free)
A trademark of Arsene Wenger’s time at Arsenal is the shrewdness of his transfer policy. Bosnian international Sead Kolasinac joins and is a prime example of this.
Many fans were disappointed when the gunners were linked with a relatively unknown player from Schalke, but to have obtained a 23-year-old full international who managed to beat the likes of David Alaba and Marcel Schmelzer to be named as the left back in the Bundesliga Team of the Season for 2016/17, for absolutely no transfer fee, is an excellent piece of business.
Right Midfield: Mohamed Salah (Liverpool, £34 million)
After reigniting his career at Roma, Mohamed Salah will be hoping his second spell in the Premier League will be much more successful than his first with Chelsea.
The Egyptian international joins on a five-year deal, and at the age of 25, the red half of Merseyside will be hoping Salah will be terrorizing Premier League defenders for years to come.
Centre Midfield: Will Hughes (Watford, £8 million)
After years of courting by Premier League clubs, Derby County were finally persuaded to part with midfield starlet Will Hughes, who departs for Watford for £8 million.
Hughes broke into the Rams first-team back in 2012 and has since amassed over 150 appearances. At the tender age of 22, he brings experience beyond his years and his performances at the under 21 Euro’s suggest he will not crumble under the intense pressure of the Premier League.
Centre Midfield: Aaron Mooy (Huddersfield Town, £8 million)
Premier league new boys Huddersfield have broken their transfer record to sign Australian Aaron Mooy from Manchester City, after the midfielder helped them to promotion while on loan last season.
Mooy joins after playing in the Confederations Cup with Australia, who exited winless after the group stage.
Left Midfield: Bernardo Silva (Manchester City, £43 million)
Portuguese international Bernardo Silva joins City after a brilliant season with Monaco. The tricky winger was instrumental in Monaco’s Ligue 1 triumph and Champions league run.
22-year-old Silva joins namesake David, Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Kevin De Bruyne as wide options for the Citizens.
Attacking Midfield: Davy Klaasen (Everton, £27 million)
Toffees fans were delighted when Ronald Koeman brought the Dutch player of the year to Goodison Park. Klaasen joins having previously been captain of European giants Ajax, at only 24.
Many pundits and fans alike believe this signing signals the end of Ross Barkley’s Everton career, but if Klaasen can bring the consistency and passion his most recent seasons have shown, he will be a worthy replacement.
Striker: Jermain Defoe (Bournemouth, Free)
Premier league veteran Defoe has rejoined Bournemouth 16 years after an initial loan spell. The 34 year old left Sunderland on a free transfer after their relegation and will look to force his way into England’s World Cup squad next summer.
The Cherries pick up their former man after spells with Spurs, Portsmouth and MLS side Toronto. He will be hoping he can improve on his 158 Premier League goals to date.
