AFC Bournemouth

Nickname – The Cherries

Best Premier League Finish – 9th (2016/17)

Just 10 seasons ago, Bournemouth started their campaign in League 2 with -17 points for administrative reasons, facing impending doom and exiting the English football league. They somehow survived relegation from League 2 and as they, the rest is history. After being promoted the following season, it didn’t take them too long to reach the Premier League, a seemingly impossible feat. Currently enjoying their 4th season in the Premier League, with the longest serving manager in the league in Eddie Howe, Bournemouth are an inspiration to fans around the country.

Biggest Flop – Tyrone Mings

Mings, a promising young left back, arrived at Bournemouth for an initial fee of £8 million from Ipswich Town in June 2015. Fees were set to rise based on performance. However, this would not occur. Just minutes into his Premier League debut, Mings suffered a season ending knee injury. Not his fault of course, but for a club like Bournemouth, a fee like this felt wasted. He was later banned for 5 games after eventually returning with some games under his belt, for an infamous stamp on Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He has struggled to make the first XI and has very few appearances for how long he has been at the club. He has since joined Championship side Aston Villa on loan.

Biggest Bargain – Callum Wilson

Wilson signed for an undisclosed fee thought to be in the region of £3 million back in the summer of 2014.  A seemingly hefty fee for a League one player at the time, but it has more than definitely paid off. Wilson fired Bournemouth to promotion in their Championship winning campaign, granting them entry  to the Premier League for the first time in the club’s history. Finishing as top scorer on his debut season with 20 goals was incredible. He has also overcome two major knee injuries to continue to delight Cherries fans. His form even recently earned him his first cap for England, scoring on his international debut.
