Callum Hudson-Odoi finally ‘ready’ to start for Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea

Maurizio Sarri has seemingly finally given in to what the fans want and is set to start English international Callum Hudson-Odoi in one of Chelsea’s next two Premier League matches.

The youngster has managed six Premier League appearances this season yet all of these have come from the bench.

Even after Hudson-Odoi’s impressive two weeks with the England international side, his manager did not start him in their recent match away to Cardiff; the winger was, in fact, an unused substitute in the 2-1 victory – another frustrating fixture for the youngster.

The Blues face Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night and they welcome their London rivals, West Ham, to their home next Monday night and it seems that Hudson-Odoi will line up in the starting XI in one of these fixtures.

Sarri has stated in a recent press conference “In pre-season after four or five training sessions, I realised that Callum was a player with very great potential. In my opinion, in that moment he wasn’t ready to play at this level, but during the season he has improved and he is ready.”

At the Cardiff City Stadium, Sarri dropped both Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante to the bench which received vast criticism from both fans and pundits yet Sarri spoke against this suggesting “I am not happy, of course. I am not concerned. It can happen. I can understand the frustration of our fans. We are not doing so badly, this season we have won 33 matches, I think in England, only Man City did better.”

Chelsea have been in rather topsy-turvy form as of late and are looking for victory against Brighton to remain in the top-four race.

With Callum Hudson-Odoi impressing against both Czech Republic and Montenegro recently on international duty with England it seems Sarri has finally come to his senses and is ready to start the young England start, who will be looking to leave a mark and show Sarri what he has been missing out on.
