Chelsea linked with £35m swoop for English striker

It is believed that Chelsea are targeting Bournemouth striker, Callum Wilson, in a surprise £35m deal in January. The Bournemouth striker, who has been in sensational form this season, has recently earned an England call-up for fixtures vs USA and Croatia and it is not just Southgate who the 26-year-old has impressed.

It has been known that Sarri is looking to bolster his attack when the transfer window opens in the new year and Wilson is right at the top of the list. Despite current Chelsea striker, Alvaro Morata, finding some form recently, Wilson could fit right into the side and could offer some much-needed competition alongside Olivier Giroud.

The striker spent his youth career at Coventry City and was signed by Bournemouth in 2014 for an undisclosed fee. Wilson scored twice on his debut for the Cherries in a 4-0 win vs Huddersfield and has not looked back since. In the 2014/15 season, Bournemouth were promoted to the Premier League with Wilson scoring 20 league goals in the process.

This season, Bournemouth’s main man has scored seven goals in 13 performances which has in turn resulted in his first senior England call-up, where he will link up with the former U21 boss, Gareth Southgate.

Chelsea were linked with numerous strikers in the recent transfer window and are still linked with Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi, who has been in phenomenal form as of late. The Blues may not be able to meet his £90m valuation though and other options have to be considered.
