West Ham captain Mark Noble has agreed to a one-year extension to his current contract which was due to expire at the end of this season. He has also confirmed in an open letter to West Ham fans that next season will be his last as a West Ham player, ending a 22-year association with the East London club.

Noble has been a bit-part player this season, with Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek preferred in central midfield as West Ham push for a place in Europe next year. However, his influence on the squad away from the pitch is as potent as ever.

David Moyes is keen to utilise his experience and knowledge of West Ham to lead and motivate the team and carry on their spectacular run of form. Moyes also appreciates the level of performance and professionalism Noble continues to provide despite his limited playing time.

The academy graduate has made 520 appearances for West Ham in all competitions and is reportedly keen on a role behind the scenes once his playing days are done. Noble is comfortable with his new role within the team and is intent on saying a proper goodbye to West Ham fans next year when supporters will hopefully be allowed in stadiums.
