Crystal Palace vs Chelsea

Date: 14/10/17

K.O: 15:00pm

Round eight of the 2017/2018 Premier League season sees Crystal Palace welcome the current champions Chelsea to Selhurst Park.

It’s hard to see the Eagles coming away with anything from this game, given they have conceded a total of nine goals against the two Manchester clubs in the last two rounds.

The likelihood of a home victory is also doubtful due to the current form of Crystal Palace, which is quite simply explained as winless and goalless. Roy Hodgson will be looking for an improved performance from his side, although a win might be asking too much from his side in this fixture, keeping the goals conceded down to a minimum could be seen as an improvement or actually scoring a goal for that matter.

Crystal Palace will no doubt enter this game with a never say never attitude, as they attempt to get something from their encounter against the current champions Chelsea. This however will not be easy given they will be without their main striker Christian Benteke who is still out through injury for another five weeks.

Further to this, one of their more potent attacking assets Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be ineligible to play against his main club Chelsea, who he is on loan from.

On a more positive note for the Eagles, club favourite Wilfred Zaha looks set to be making a come back since injuring his knee in the first round. He should add some much needed attacking threat to this Palace side, could he be the one to find the back of the net for Palace and Hodgson?

The Saturday afternoon fixture will be a tricky encounter for the Eagles, however if they can improve their defensive effort and potentially find the back of the net it might give them some much needed confidence heading forward. A win for the hosts most would say is unlikely, that said this is the Premier League anything could happen..

Chelsea will be heading into this fixture with confidence, given they have won eight of their last nine away games in the Premier League. However they still have a job to do and a Palace side yet to secure any points this season will be hungry to do so.

Chelsea will be welcoming back the presence of David Luis in defence after serving a three game ban. However will be missing the work ethic of midfielder N’golo Kante and striker Alvaro Morata who are both out with a hamstring injuries.

Prediction Crystal Palace 0 Chelsea 3
