Jurgen Klopp commits his future to Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has this week committed himself to Liverpool Football Club and has stated that he has no intention to leave the club before the end of his contract in 2022.

In an interview with Die Welt am Sonntag, when asked about his future on Merseyside, the German said “I have a contract at Liverpool until 2022. And no one here has the feeling that we should end it – neither from the side of the owner not my side.”

“I don’t not know [about when my time at Liverpool will end]. There’s a long way to go. Basically, football is like this: the opportunity has to be right, and the timing has to be right.” He went on to say.

The Reds face a crunch Champions League quarter-final tie with FC Porto this week and Klopp’s commitment to his side may give them the confidence they need for the remainder of both their Champions League and Premier League campaigns. The Red half of Merseyside currently lead the way in the Premier League and sit at the summit, two points ahead of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

They also welcome Chelsea to Anfield at the weekend which may be looked upon as their ‘last difficult game’ in their quest for their first Premier League title. After welcoming the Blues, they face Cardiff City and Newcastle away from home and welcome Huddersfield and Wolves to Merseyside – games which fans and Klopp himself will see as easily winnable fixtures.

Jurgen believes the age of his squad means he can maintain Liverpool’s challenge for silverware over a sustained period and after the Reds securing the long-term futures of players such as Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, Klopp may be next on the list to ensure his contract continues past 2022.
