Leicester City planning £14m swoop for Crystal Palace ace

Leicester City are planning a £14million swoop on Crystal Palace’s Andros Townsend this summer according to reports in the Mirror.

It is understood Rodgers is keen to bring a winger to the club this summer and Townsend has emerged as one of their main targets and fits the mold for Rodger’s side.

The 27-year-old has managed 14 goals in 124 appearances for the Eagles since his move from Newcastle in 2016. Last season he scored a memorable goal at the Etihad in the Eagles 3-2 vs the Champions which was voted ‘goal of the season’ by a number of pundits and fans.

He was a crucial cog in Roy Hodgson’s attacking outfit last campaign and with reports of Wilfried Zaha looking for a way out this summer, it could be a long transfer window for Eagles fans.

The winger is certainly an experienced Premier League player and he could be an important addition to Rodger’s side which is littered with young talent. Beginning his career at Tottenham, his boyhood club, he struggled to make a real impact at White Hart Lane and was loaned out to various clubs across England’s divisions.

He then forced a move to Newcastle in 2016 and managed four goals in 13 appearances whilst at St James’ Park before moving back to the capital in a move believed to be worth around £13million.

The move would be an inspiring one for Townsend which could revitalise his England international chances whilst see him playing in a young and aspiring side in the East Midlands who have various plans for expansion including new training facilities and a stadium expansion.
