Marco Silva speaks out over Jordan Pickford bar brawl

Everton manager Marco Silva has said he is “not happy” with England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after he was allegedly involved in an altercation in his hometown of Sunderland.

As reported by 90MAAT, Pickford, 25, was involved in an incident that saw the Everton shot-stopper have to be restrained by friends after barbed insults were thrown at him and his girlfriend.

A video published on Twitter showed Pickford’s involvement, and Toffees manager Silva has had his say on the matter in his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s game against Arsenal.

“No-one is happy with the situation – it was not a good thing,” Silva said.

Silva went on to say players had “duties and obligations” and that Everton would need to remind Pickford of these. “If you ask me as a manager I am not happy with what happened,”

Silva went on: “Everything we must do we already did. It is my expectation it won’t happen again.

“The first chat of the week I was clear with [Pickford]. Everything is clear in his mind about his obligations.

“The matter is finished in this moment.”

Northumbria Police announced on Tuesday they were investigating the matter and the club also commented via a spokesman.

“At 12:19am (Monday), police received a report of a disturbance involving a large group of individuals on Tunstall Road, Sunderland,” a Northumbria Police spokesperson said.

“Enquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and locate those involved.”

They added: “Nobody is believed to have been seriously injured and no arrests have been made.”

Everton next face Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday at Goodison Park.
