Pep Guardiola: Aguero serious doubt for Cardiff

Pep Guardiola has delivered a further injury update on star striker Sergio Aguero, stating that the Argentine is a serious doubt for Wednesday’s Premier League fixture against Cardiff.

In his pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday’s game, Guardiola stated “He [Aguero] didn’t train last two days, tomorrow he is not able. Maybe (ready for) Saturday, but we will see in the next days”.

The news serves as a serious blow to City’s domestic and European prospects, with the Premier League’s top scorer now a considerable doubt for their title-race with Liverpool and their Champions League quarter-finals.

Aguero has excelled in the current Premier League campaign, scoring 19 goals and giving City the chance for an unprecedented quadruple across all four major competitions.

The news come after Guardiola had stated in his post-match interview from Fulham that “He [Aguero] says he felt something, but hopefully he’s not injured”.

“He decided on not continuing. Hopefully it will not be a big issue. We will see tomorrow [Sunday] maybe the day after tomorrow.”

His absence on Wednesday night is unlikely to hinder City’s pursuit of all three points against Neil Warnock’s Cardiff, who even threatened to play the Bluebirds’ reserves against the Champions, but if the striker is out for longer it would present a serious hurdle to City and Guardiola’s ambitions in the current campaign.
