It may have flown by but 10 rounds of the Premier League 2018/19 season have been and gone with numerous surprises to say the least. Below is the current table and how our initial prediction relates to this.

  1. Manchester City – 0
  2. Liverpool – 0
  3. Chelsea ˄ 1
  4. Arsenal ˅ 1
  5. Tottenham Hotspur ˄ 1
  6. Bournemouth ˄ 12
  7. Watford ˄ 9
  8. Manchester United ˅ 3
  9. Everton ˅ 2
  10. Wolverhampton Wanderers – 0
  11. Brighton and Hove Albion ˄ 6
  12. Leicester City ˅ 3
  13. West Ham United ˅ 5
  14. Crystal Palace ˅ 2
  15. Burnley ˅ 4
  16. Southampton ˅ 2
  17. Cardiff City ˄ 3
  18. Fulham ˅ 5
  19. Newcastle United ˅ 4
  20. Huddersfield Town ˅ 1

This is currently our best update in terms of most predictions correct with three teams (Manchester City, Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers) all where we said they would be. Apart from the top five and Huddersfield in last place, our predictions were a bit wide of the mark.

After our first update, Bournemouth had climbed 12 places above their prediction and found themselves in 6th place where they currently still sit. They have only lost two games this season and are currently just two points off Champions League football. It could be said that, with the exception of Chelsea, they have had not had any tough fixtures but they are still excelling well beyond their own standards and goals at this early stage of the season.

Watford have also exceeded our early predictions and are tantalisingly close to European football. With clubs like Manchester United currently sitting below both of these teams and looking significantly off the pace, we could well be in for another year of the underdogs.

Premier League new boys Cardiff City and Fulham have had tough starts to the season and are a few places off our initial prediction. Fulham currently sit five places below our prediction in 18th place while Cardiff are three places above our prediction in 17th place. Relegation looks to be a very real possibility for both clubs.

Other newcomers Wolves have had a flying start to the season and are sitting at a very respectable 10th. Brighton are also doing much better than we thought in 11th place and a top half finish is a very achievable goal at this stage in the season.

Christmas is rapidly approaching and is often used as a good benchmark for the table come the end of the season. Once again, Premier League football does not disappoint with ups, downs and unpredictable results and performances. Will this trend continue or will the table begin to stabilise in the coming weeks?
