PREVIEW: Burnley vs Swansea City – 18/11/17

Burnley vs Swansea City

Date: 18/11/17

K.O: 15.00pm

Venue: Turf Moor

Burnley host Swansea in a 3pm kick-off on Saturday. The Swans are currently in 19th place only four points above struggling Crystal Palace after four straight defeats. Burnley on the other hand find themselves in 7th, level on points with Arsenal and Liverpool.

Much of the attention on Burnley during the international break has been on whether or not Sean Dyche will fill the vacant manager’s seat at Everton. He has repeatedly claimed that he is only focused on Burnley at the moment, but it will be interesting to see whether the rumours have an effect on the team.

Despite their difference in league positions both teams have been very poor in front of goal this season, with Burnley scoring 10 whilst Swansea have registered only 7. (For context Manchester City have scored 38).

Swansea really must get a result here if they want to try and stave away a relegation dogfight for the remainder of the season. They will be buoyed by the return of Renato Sanches, Martin Olsson and Wilfried Bony as they look to get through Burnely’s rugged defence. Ki Sung-yueng however is being assessed after returning from international duty.

The only fresh injury worry for Burnley is about the availability of striker Chris Wood. He picked up a slight knock whilst away with New Zealand so may only be fit enough for a place on the bench. Tom Heaton, Nahki Wells and Jon Walters all remain sidelined for the Clarets.

A win for Sean Dyche’s men could send them up to 5th. At the start of the season no one would have expected Burnley to be doing this well so far into the season. There is still a feeling that the wheels may fall off at some point for Burnley but at the moment no one would be surprised to see them beat a struggling Swansea side.

Prediction: Burnley 1 Swansea City 0
