Liverpool vs Huddersfield Town

Date: 28/10/17

K.O: 15:00pm

A crumbling Liverpool F.C. take on Huddersfield Town on Saturday, a team that will still be bouncing from a victory over second-placed Manchester United the previous week.

Liverpool have not won in front of an Anfield crowd for over two months, and recent results all round (perhaps excluding a 7-0 Champions League win in Maribor) have not impressed fans in the slightest.

There is no doubt that Jurgen Klopp is now under serious pressure, and the German needs his team to start picking points against the “lower stature” teams, Huddersfield being one of them.

Having said that, the Terriers know that if they can pick up a shock three points against a high-flying Manchester United, they should certainly be able to do the same to Liverpool, and what a position it would put them in if they pull it off. Depending on results elsewhere, Huddersfield could end the weekend as high as sixth in the table.

Team News

Gini Wijnaldum is likely to return to Liverpool’s starting XI this weekend after a training injury caused him to miss out on last weekend’s match against Spurs.

Sadio Mané, Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana are all still recovering from long-term injuries.

Last week’s dismal performance in the Premier League could warrant some changes from Klopp, particularly in defence, and it wouldn’t be a total surprise if at least one of the culprits at the back are benched.

As for Huddersfield, it has recently been confirmed that Philip Billing will be out for up to twelve weeks after undergoing ankle surgery. The Dane picked up the injury a couple matches back against Swansea City.

David Wagner could choose to rotate the striking position this week and give Mounié the starting place up front. However, Depoitre looks to be finding form after some solid performances, and may once again get the nod to start the match.

Expected Starting XI’s:

Liverpool: Mignolet, Moreno, Matip, Lovren, Alexander-Arnold, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Can, Coutinho, Firmino, Salah

Huddersfield: Lössl, Smith, Jorgensen, Schindler, Löwe, Hogg, Williams, van La Parra, Mooy, Ince, Depoitre

Prediction: Liverpool 1 Huddersfield Town 1
