Tottenham vs Swansea
Date: 16/09/17
K.O: 17.30
Tottenham welcome Swansea to Wembley stadium in the days late kick off. Tottenham are starting to enjoy life at Wembley after they recorded they’re first win there midweek against Borussia Dortmund. They are, however, still looking for their first win in the league at Wembley. Though confidence will be sky high after a 3-0 away win last time out.
Swansea are by no means a side with the same quality as Dortmund, but Paul Clements team can be a tricky team to overcome at times. They need more production in the final third however, with only 1 goal and the least amount of shots on target in the league, they are in dire need of a spark to their season.
Tottenham however come into the game brimming with confidence. Tottenham Talisman Harry Kane has yet to score a Premier League goal in August, despite having 25 shots last month. However, come September he is a new man, with 4 goals this week he looks back to his deadly best, which should not only worry the swans, but the entire league.
In terms of team line-ups, Serge Aurier impressed against Dortmund, but Kieran Trippier should still start against Swansea. Jan Vertonghen is suspended for Spurs’ next Champions League against APOEL later in September, meaning Pochettino is almost certain to start the Belgian in the League and rotate other options this month.
Eric Dier could come into midfield if Moussa Dembele is rested, while Dele Alli will return after missing out against Dortmund due to being suspended for Spurs’ opening three Champions League group games. Harry Kane is likely to continue leading the line given his superb form, though Pochettino could also be tempted to hand Fernando Llorente his first start of the campaign.
The Swans are likely to go with the same team that lost 1-0 at home to Newcastle on the weekend. The Swans faithful will hope for a better performance from Portuguese sensation Renato Sanchez after a poor start to life in the premiership.
Paul Clement will also hope for more quality service into young Tammy Abraham, who looked threatening against the Magpies on the weekend. Clement must also be tempted to start fan favourite Bony, to see if he and the young Abraham can form the formidable partnership his team so desperately yearns for.
Predicted line-ups:
Tottenham starting XI: Lloris, Trippier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Davies, Eriksen, Dier, Son, Alli, Kane
Swansea starting XI: Fabianski, Naughton, Fernandez, Mawson, Olsson, Renato Sanches, Clucas, Fer, Carroll, Abraham, Ayew
Prediction: Tottenham 2 Swansea City 1
I think this will be a tough fixture for Tottenham, but they will eventually out do the Welsh side with the sheer quality that they posess.
