West Brom vs Leicester City

Date: 10/03/18

K/O: 15:00pm

Venue: The Hawthorns

Referee: Bobby Madley

West Bromwich Albion’s time in the Premier League is quickly running out as they prepare to face Leicester City this weekend, with Pardew’s side a vast eight points away from safety with only nine games to play.

They play Claude Puel’s side on the back of five straight league defeats and it seems they will need to perform a miracle to stave off relegation to the Championship.

Leicester will be very confident going into this fixture, knowing they should increase West Brom’s losing tally further. The attacking qualities of Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy will surely see an end to their winless run of five matches, seeing how poor the Baggies’ defence has been this season.

While there continues to be speculation over the future of Alan Pardew, the outcome for West Brom’s season is mostly decided. Unfortunately for West Brom, Leicester, despite the results of late, have a fantastic record at The Hawthorns. Jamie Vardy has scored in all three of their previous Premier League victories against West Brom. In fact, all of them have been winning goals, so he and Leicester will surely fancy their chances of increasing the seven gap for the Premier League’s bottom side from 19th placed Stoke City.

Team News:

West Brom have back Hal Robson-Kanu from injury but Gareth Barry is out and Jonny Evans is also doubtful following a virus.

Injured trio Nacer Chadli, James Morrison and Daniel Sturridge all remain on the sidelines.

Leicester defender Daniel Amartey is out for at least a month after suffering a hamstring injury last week, with Danny Simpson likely to replace him.

Shinji Okazaki has recovered from a knee problem that has kept him out of the Foxes’ last four matches.

What the manager’s say:

West Brom coach Alan Pardew:

“Leicester were in a similar position a few years ago and got themselves out of it. Our fans have been very tolerant. Hopefully our fans will be patient with us tomorrow and I hope we can give them a reward.

“A win can change a lot of things. We know where we are and I’ll do the very best I can every week. We were unfortunate at Watford last week.”

Leicester manager Claude Puel:

“In their last game they [West Brom] played well with a lot of chances. It will be tough because they play with a good intensity.”

Prediction: West Brom 0 Leicester City 2

Seeing how poor the Baggies have been this season, coupled with the attacking nature of this Leicester side, it’s hard to see anything other than another defeat for West Brom.
