PSG are set to bid £50m for Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

Doucoure, 26, has been in impressive form for the Hornets since arriving from Rennes in 2016, attracting interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur.

The Frenchman was expected to depart Vicarage Road in the summer transfer window but signed a new bumper deal much to the delight of the Watford faithful.

With PSG’s Adrien Rabiot set to depart the club upon the expiration of his contract this summer, a move for Doucoure would plug the gap left by the departing 23-year-old, with the combative Watford midfielder more than capable of filling in at the centre of PSG’s midfield.

A £50m transfer would represent a £42m profit on the £8m Watford paid Rennes in 2016, however the Hornets are unlikely to be eager to depart with their prized asset as they continue their push for Europa League qualification.

Watford travel to Crystal Palace in their next Premier League fixture whilst PSG travel to Stade Pontivy in the round of 64 in the French Cup.
