PSG target West Ham defender in £50m move

Paris Saint Germain are lining up a £50m move for West Ham defender Issa Diop, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

Diop, a £22m summer signing from Tolouse, has impressed since signing for the Hammers, making seven starts and playing a part in West Ham’s resurgence since a dismal start to the season.

PSG, financed by Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) have reportedly been keeping tabs on Diop prior to his move to England, and are keen to bring in French internationals to their squad in order to boost the club’s home-grown quota. QSI have financed PSG’s spending to the point they are now a true European heavyweight, and a move for Diop would certainly be within the club’s financial reach.

A £50m transfer to PSG would represent a considerable profit for West Ham, though whether the Hammers would be willing to part with one of their most promising players after just a sole season remains to be seen.

Diop is expected to start for West Ham in their clash against Leicester at 5.30pm on Saturday.
