West Ham United are closing in on their ninth summer signing which would take the clubs spending this window to just shy of £100 million.
Sky Sports have reported, West Ham are close to agreeing on a fee with Arsenal for the Spanish striker Lucas Perez who spent last season out on loan at Deportivo, where he made 31 appearances as well as contributing towards 14 goals.
New Hammers manager Manuel Pelligrini would like Perez to provide further striking options after little competition for places in attack last term.
Perez signed for Arsenal in 2016 from Deportivo for a fee of £17 million, having also previously played for Rayo Vallecano and PAOK.
When given the opportunity Perez is an excellent poacher in front of goal and has an outstanding ability to assist teammates as well. Despite this, the Spaniard’s game time at The Emirates has been limited to just 11 Premier League appearances and a single goal.
West Ham will hope he can transfer the confidence he gained while on loan last season into a better conversion rate for the forthcoming campaign.
