Manuel Pellegrini has plunged the future of a number of his star performers in doubt by saying that every player has a price in a recent interview.
The Argentine was responding to questions from the press regarding the future of newly-capped England international Declan Rice. The ex-Irish u21 player has massively developed this season and after cementing his place in the West Ham starting XI, was handed his first international cap against Czech Republic and his first start against Montenegro in Podgorica.
Pellegrini conceded that even Declan Rice could leave providing the deal was right financially for West Ham.
The midfielder has only just signed a new deal at the London Stadium, keeping him with the Hammers until 2024 but that will no doubt discourage his suitors. Given his age, nationality and current form, there is no doubt he would command a hefty price tag but it wouldn’t be surprising to see any of top 6 show serious interest in him come the summer transfer window.
Pellegrini’s comments could also throw a question mark over the future of Felipe Anderson who has attracted interest from Real Madrid.
That deal however is apparently hinging on Eden Hazard’s situation at Chelsea which is another high profile story that will keep rumbling on.
One thing is for sure is that all West Ham fans would be sad to see Rice or Felipe Anderson leave.
