West Ham United youngster seeking Arsenal move

Reports in the Daily Mirror suggest that West Ham United youngster, Reece Oxford, will pursue a move to Arsenal in the summer instead of a move back to Germany.

The 20-year-old began his career at Tottenham Hotspur youth before moving to West Ham United however he has struggled to break through to the first team resulting in loans to Reading and more recently Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga.

Despite showing signs of promise in Germany, the defensive midfielder has not appeared for the German club all season but it is understood they are keen to sign the youngster permanently this January.

Yet it is believed that Oxford himself is interested in staying in the Premier League with Arsenal the number one target for the London born star. Arsenal are understood to require defensive reinforcements and it is an area they have particularly struggled with this season yet they may have to wait until summer due to limited funds.

West Ham manager, Manuel Pellegrini, has reportedly warned Oxford that he may have to leave the club for regular football and if the youngster wants his dream Premier League move instead of a return to Germany, he may have to sit tight and hope for the best in the summer. West Ham are looking to pick up £3m for the youngster and it is believed other English sides such as Everton are monitoring his progress.
