Everton lining up £25m bid for England international striker

Everton are monitoring the status of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, with the Toffees set to launch a move if the Englishman’s strained relationship with Claude Puel continues, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

Vardy, 31, was dropped to the bench for Leicester’s 1-1 draw with West Ham on Saturday, adding to the growing rumours that the Englishman is unhappy under Puel’s management and that he could seek a move away from the club in January.

Vardy is a Leicester City legend, helping the club win the 2015/16 Premier League title and making the quarter-finals of the Champions League, but if Everton were to lodge a bid in the region of £25-30m then a transfer could make sense for all concerned.

Everton are currently considering their options in the striking department ahead of the January window, after Cenk Tosun has failed to nail down a starting berth and Richarlison looks out of place as a central striker.

The Toffees face off against Manchester United on Sunday at Old Trafford.
