Real Madrid set to favour Christian Eriksen over Hazard

The Independent have reported today that Real Madrid have made initial steps to lure Christian Eriksen away from Tottenham and to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

The Galacticos have been somewhat struggling in La Liga this season and currently sit in 5th – 10 points off Barcelona in top place. It is believed they are planning an overhaul of their squad in the summer and they are keen to pick up either one of Eriksen or Eden Hazard.

The Chelsea playmaker has been constantly linked to the European giants yet it is understood they think a move for Eriksen makes more sense and will be easier than a move for the Belgian.

The Danes contract is up in 2020 and it is believed he is currently stalling contract talks which may make a way for the Spanish club. Barcelona had previously been interested in the creative midfielder and saw him as an alternative to Philippe Coutinho before they signed him.

The Independent reports suggest there has been contact between intermediaries representing both Madrid and Eriksen and although the Lilywhites are willing to offer their man £200,000 to £250,000 a week in a new deal, it is understood his concerns in London are not financial.

With a clear-out of the squad in the summer, Madrid will possibly be willing to offer a player as part of the deal with Isco being linked with a move to London.
