Arsenal midfielder rules out move to rivals Tottenham

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is widely expected to leave the club when his contract expires next summer, but the Welshman has ruled out a Sol Campbell-eque move across the capital to rivals Spurs, according to reports in The Sun.

Ramsey, who has been with the club since 2008, is approaching the 250-game mark for Arsenal, though an improved contract offer was reportedly withdrawn earlier this year, leaving the Welshman bemused yet resigned to leaving in the summer of 2019.

There is likely to be a long list of suitors interested in acquiring Ramsey on a free transfer, with Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp noted as admirers of the midfielder.

Ramsey’s stance on the situation was made clear, with the Welshman commenting that “We all know the contract has been taken off the table and I still don’t know why because a few weeks before we’d sort of agreed a deal and I was ready to sign”.

“But something happened within the club and I’m not exactly sure what it was”.

“Maybe I’ll get some clarity when the time is right. If I get some reasons, maybe I can accept them, but that hasn’t happened yet”.

Ramsey will be preparing to face Crystal Palace this Sunday, as the club go in search of an eighth successive Premier League victory, whilst seeking a 12th consecutive win across all competitions.
