Solanke, 21, had been linked with a loan move to fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace, but it appears Eddie Howe and the Cherries have made their move for the Englishman as the January transfer window sparks into life.

Solanke, a youth product of Chelsea, moved up north to Anfield with the promise of first-team action under Jurgen Klopp, but is yet to play a single minute of Premier League football in the 2018/19 campaign.

The 21-year-0ld has made one appearance for the English senior team under Gareth Southgate having made 67 appearances between U16-U21 level for his country, and Howe will hope to provide a platform and a springboard for Solanke to stake his claim for a regular place in Southgate’s squad.

The signing of Solanke would represent Bournemouth’s third-largest fee in their history, having acquired Jefferson Lerma and Nathan Ake in previous windows.

The Cherries will hope that Solanke can provide competition in their attacking line-up to the likes of Callum Wilson and Josh King, though given the rumours surrounding Wilson’s potential transfer to the likes of Chelsea, this could be a move that pre-meditates the departure of their leading goalscorer in 2018/19.
