Cardiff act early and sign two to solve goal scoring headache

Reports from Sky Sports have confirmed that the Argentinian striker Emiliano Sala has agreed to join Cardiff City from French side Nantes. The £18 million deal is reportedly very close to being finalised since they have agreed on personal terms with the striker but they are still awaiting a medical before the record move.

Cardiff are struggling for points let alone goals this season so it is understood that they want to get the deal completed before the Newcastle game on Saturday. However, Nantes want him to play one final game for them in Ligue 1.

Cardiff fans will be very hopeful for this signing to make an immediate impact as he has a very impressive record for Nantes so far the season. In 19 appearances he has scored 12 goals, among which have been some excellent headed goals.

Bearing in mind the Bluebirds utilise a more direct style of play, particularly with their long throw-in tactics, Cardiff could reap immediate rewards from Sala. Fans should not expect him to be tricky in possession or quick however as it is his positioning and aerial prowess that has seen him be so successful in the French top division.

Considering Cardiff’s current top scorer is Callum Paterson (who was originally bought to occupy the right-back position) with four goals, Sala will be a welcome addition. Paterson’s place will not only be up for competition with Sala but Cardiff have also secured the loan signing of Everton’s Oumar NiasseWarnock all of a sudden has a great armory of attacking options to choose from until the end of the season and he will be hoping his new stars can lift his side from the depth.
