FPL: Five players who could excel in GW27

Hello there FPL managers, I am back with my picks of players I think could be all important in spearheading your FPL teams to success in GW27 if you have them.

They will not be the obvious ones like Salah or Aguero but ones that might have slipped under the radar.

So let’s get started.

1. Bernardo Silva (MCIvLEI)

My first pick is Bernardo Silva of Manchester City. Let’s call him Bilva shall we? Alright. So Bilva hasn’t been playing that much this season after much excitement among FPL managers pre-season. The frontline of Aguero, Jesus, Sane and Sterling while the midfield of De Bruyne and D. Silva meant that he rarely got a chance in the league. However, recent injuries to Jesus and more importantly Leroy Sane have changed the situation. Bilva played the last two league games and looks very good going forward; with Leicester now the latest team to travel to the Etihad a start looks likely and given the differential pedigree with only 1% ownership priced at just 7.4 million, he looks like he could be your man.

2. Jordan Ibe (HUDvBOU)

Bournemouth travel to the John Smith’s Stadium in excellent form and are unbeaten since GW20 and have won 4 and drawn 3 in that period while scoring 15 in those 7 games. This upturn in form has coincided with the upturn in form of Jordan Ibe as he has been excellent over that last period. Playing in the wide positions to support Callum Wilson who has been in amazing form himself, he has scored 1 and assisted another 3 in that period. At just 4.9 million price tag we get a nailed on Bournemouth winger in amazing form playing against a team conceding a lot of goals lately and to top it all of he is still just owned by a mere 1.9% of total teams.

3. Luke Shaw (NEWvMUN)

No-one is keeping clean sheets on a more consistent basis than Manchester United this season. David de Gea already has 15 clean sheets in the league which is the most he has ever had in a season and there is still a long time to go. Luke Shaw provides a cheap way into that United defence at just £4.9 million. Although he got benched for consecutive games after the return of Ashley Young, he did return against Huddersfield, and I think he will hold his place in the side with Mourinho not happy with Young’s performance at Wembley, coupled with Shaw having won him over he is reportedly signing a new deal at the club. Given that he will probably play I think he could be a good addition to your FPL teams for GW27.

4. James Ward-Prowse (SOUvLIV)

Liverpool travel to St Mary’s on Sunday whilst I try to avoid any lame jokes about them travelling to face their academy club. Moving on, James Ward-Prowse has been in great form recently with 3 goals and 2 assists in his last 4 games. He will be on various set pieces and of course direct free kicks and he is deadly from those. We all know Liverpool’s frailties from set pieces and it could be a field day for the Englishman. He also seems to be playing higher up the pitch giving him more of a chance to be in the box or to shoot given a scoring chance appears. He could be one to look at bringing in to your FPL teams priced at just 5.1 million with an ownership of 2.2%.

5. Salomon Rondon (CHEvWBA)

I think this is the biggest gamble that I am suggesting this week. Salomon Rondon of West Brom has been playing all of the games for them recently and kept his place even after the acquisition of Daniel Sturridge from Liverpool. Rondon also managed to get on the score sheet against Southampton and will look to do so again as he travels to Stamford Bridge to face a Chelsea side conceding a lot of goals recently. Heavy defeats to Bournemouth and Watford have had a detrimental effect on their quest for the top 4 and has also put Antonio Conte’s future in doubt. Amidst such chaos this could be the time the Albion steps up and piles further misery on the Blues. This is, however, a very brave call but at just 0.6% ownership he provides a great differential option with good fixtures going forward.

So, these were my five picks for players I could see doing well in GW27. I hope this helps you in your long term planning during this last stretch of 12 gameweeks in the Fantasy Premier League this season. I hope you like it and I wish you all have a great gameweek full of green arrows. This is me Varun signing out.
