French club join the race for Manchester United star

Paris St Germain are entering the race to sign Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku this summer according to reports in the Express.

It is believed that their favoured striker Edinson Cavani is linked with a move away from the French capital to join La Liga giants, Atletico Madrid, which would leave PSG searching for a replacement.

Yet they are not alone in their desire to sign the Belgian. It has been widely reported that Antonio Conte is keen to bring Lukaku to his new Inter Milan side and he sees Lukaku as an integral part of his new Milan side next season.

It’s understood United will stand firm on their asking price for their striker and they are wanting to recoup around £80million of the £90million they spent on their man just under two years ago.

The United striker has fallen out of favour this campaign and he was unable to guide his club to a Champions League spot as they fell well short in sixth place in the Premier League table. The center forward only managed 15 goals in all competitions this campaign and he has hinted at leaving Old Trafford already this summer.

It seems Inter Milan would likely be Lukaku’s preferred option though with the Belgian stating back in April “playing in Serie A is a dream, it would be really a dream.”

The 26-year-old has netted 113 times in the Premier League across spells at Chelsea, West Brom, Everton and United yet it seems his time in England is coming to an end.

The Mail reported today that the striker is also set to take a hit on his United wages due to the club failing to qualify for the Champions League which could further entice him to a move away from Manchester.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has vowed to revamp his United side this summer after their questionable performances last season and Lukaku could be one of the first departures to make way for new signings.

Thomas Meunier has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford whilst the transfer of Daniel James from Swansea continues to develop. “It’s going to be survival of the fittest or survival of the best. That’s how ruthless we have to be,” Solskjaer stated.

Whether PSG or Inter Milan, it would be no surprise to see the departure of Romelu Lukaku this window making the possibility of incomings in Manchester even greater.
