Predicted Premier League Table 2018/19 – Update 8

We have made it through another international break and that means only one thing, Premier League football returned this weekend. It is staggering that we are so close to the end of yet another season that once again has not disappointed. Let’s have a look at the current table.

  1. Liverpool ˄1
  2. Man City ˅1
  3. Spurs ˄3
  4. Man Utd ˄1
  5. Arsenal ˅2
  6. Chelsea ˅2
  7. Wolves ˄3
  8. Leicester ˄1
  9. Everton ˅2
  10. Watford ˄6
  11. West Ham ˅3
  12. Bournemouth ˄6
  13. Crystal Palace ˅1
  14. Newcastle ˄1
  15. Brighton ˄2
  16. Southampton ˅2
  17. Burnley ˅6
  18. Cardiff ˄2
  19. Fulham ˅6
  20. Huddersfield ˅1

The season is drawing to a close teams’ positions will gradually be confirmed. For example, this weekend confirmed that Huddersfield Town will be relegated to the Championship after just their second season in the Premier League, yet another sufferer of second season syndrome. For those who don’t know what this is, it’s a term used for teams that do significantly worse in their second season after gaining promotion, more often than not resulting in relegation. Whilst they may not finish bottom, they are going down, they are now the joint quickest team along with the infamous Derby team of 2007/08, to be relegated. Huddersfield are currently only one place off what us writers predicted way back in August, we tipped them for relegation and that was confirmed over the weekend.

Burnley and Fulham both continue to disappoint fans and are two of our biggest deviants from the original prediction. Both have had underwhelming seasons. Fulham are in their first season and so a relegation zone battle may not be too unexpected yet we thought they would do a whole lot better. Burnley are in a very similar position, with both teams 6 places off what we predicted, both are now very much in a relegation battle, Fulham could well be relegated next week. Whilst, Watford and Bournemouth on the other hand are both 6 places above what we first thought. We tipped Bournemouth for relegation but they have deservedly so, proved us wrong.

As a team, this was our worst round so far, for the first time this season, we haven’t got a single team in the correct position. We are just off the mark with a fair few teams but still, not a single team right. Who says football is boring? The battle for the title could be decided on just one game with their currently being a mere two points between Liverpool and Man City. There is also only one point separating 3rd and 6th so it seems this season will go right down to the wire and that is extremely exciting. Will we see another amazing ‘AGUEROOOO’ like moment this season? I certainly hope so.
